Websites for criminal defence solicitors

Nobody browses for a criminal defence solicitor. They search at 2am because they, or someone they love, have just been arrested. Your website has one job in that moment: put a trusted phone number in front of them, fast. Everything else comes second.

Our work

Concepts we've designed for criminal defence firms

Three homepage concepts for Cardiff criminal defence practices, each built around the emergency number. Names, people, photos, contact details and other identifying details have been changed.

Mobile first

Designed for the phone in someone's hand

Most people looking for a criminal solicitor are on a phone, often outside a police station or at home late at night. On these concepts the first screen shows who you are, that you're available now, and a number they can tap.

What the site needs

What a criminal defence website has to get right

The emergency number, everywhere

In the top bar, in the hero and in a sticky call button on mobile, on every page. Office number and out-of-hours number clearly labelled so nobody rings an empty office at midnight.

Answer "will this cost me?" straight away

You have the right to free legal advice if you are questioned at a police station. Saying so on the first screen removes the biggest reason people hesitate to call.

A page for families

Many calls come from a parent or partner. A short "someone I love has been arrested" page explaining what happens next, what to bring and how to reach you is often the most-read page on the site.

Motoring offence fees

If you handle summary-only motoring offences such as speeding or careless driving, the SRA Transparency Rules require price and service information on your website. We build a clear fee page for it.

Complaints and SRA badge

Like every SRA-regulated firm, you need your complaints procedure (including the Legal Ombudsman), your SRA number and the SRA digital badge displayed prominently.

Discretion

No pop-ups, no chat bots that follow people around, and enquiry forms that ask only for a name and a number. People searching about an arrest are anxious and wary of leaving a trail.

Being found

How people search for a criminal solicitor

Searches are urgent, local and specific. Each of these deserves its own page, written in plain English.

SituationTypical searchesWhat we build
Arrested now"police station solicitor Cardiff", "duty solicitor", "solicitor for police interview"A police station advice page with the emergency number at the top and what to expect in interview.
A family member"my son has been arrested what happens", "how to find out if someone is in custody"A page for families, written to be read on a phone under stress.
Driving"drink driving solicitor", "speeding solicitor", "facing a driving ban"Motoring offence pages with the SRA-required fee information.

After sentence"prison law solicitor", "parole solicitor"Prison law and parole pages, if you offer them, aimed at families as well as clients.

Plus one Google Business Profile per office, with your out-of-hours number and real opening hours. That profile is often what someone taps before they ever see your website.

Questions

Common questions from criminal defence firms

Can the emergency number stay on screen as people scroll?

Yes. On phones we add a sticky call button at the bottom of every page, so the out-of-hours number is always one tap away.

Do we need price information on our website?

If you offer summary-only motoring offences, the SRA Transparency Rules require price and service information on your website. Like all regulated firms you also need your complaints procedure, SRA number and the SRA digital badge. We build all of these in.

Can you write a page for families of people who've been arrested?

Yes. We draft it from your own advice, in plain English, and you approve it before it goes live.

Will a new site lose our Google rankings?

Not if it's done properly. We keep or redirect every existing page address and move your content across before we improve it.

How much does it cost?

The homepage concept is free. If you like it, the full site is £495, then £69 a month for hosting, security and changes.
